Klarsfeld contacts Beirut kidnappers
Jerusalem Post February 4, 1986 Beate Klarsfeld has made contact with the kidnappers of five Lebanese Jews and offered herself as a substitute hostage, her husband, Serge, told The Jerusalem Post yesterday. Beate did not elaborate on the type of contact she made, her husband said. "In these circumstances, you don't know whether it is direct or indirect contact," he reported her as saying. Neither did she reveal the identity of those she spoke to, or their reaction to her offer. Serge Klarsfeld arrived here yesterday afternoon from Paris His wife went to Moslem West Beirut on January 17 after two of the seven men originally kidnapped, Haim Cohen Halala and Isaac Tarrab, were found murdered. Leaders of Lebanon's small Jewish community have said that three other community members are also missing, and are feared kidnapped. |
