Serge Klarsfeld may replace Beate in Beirut
February 5, 1986 Nazi hunter Serge Klarsfeld said in Jerusalem yesterday thai he might relieve his wife Beate in Beirut and carry on negotiations with the Moslem abductors of local Jews in her stead. Beate Klarsfeld offered herself as a substitute hostage for the five Lebanese Jews being held, and said on Monday that she had made contact with the kidnappers. Meanwhile, an 11-volume collection of documents on Rumanian Jewry during the Holocaust was shown to reporters yesterday by MK Yituhak Artzi in the presence of the collator, Dr. Jean Ancel, of Yad Vashem, and Serge Klarsfeld, at whose initiative the work was undertaken. |
